BE ALL YOU CAN BE

S2 Personal Survival

Personal Survival is an S2 elective that aims to build on basic swimming skills learnt during Physical Activity lessons. The course will teach pupils how to survive in water, as well as provide them with the skills that could help them save the life of another.  This elective will be predominantly water based as most of the skills and techniques covered will involve water based training.  There will also be an element of classroom based sessions in which pupils will complete a ‘Heart Start’ course, which will equip them with the necessary skills to deal with emergency situations and perform basic CPR.

What does the course involve?

The course focusses on practical performance although will also develop pupil knowledge and understanding, aiming to provide a plethora of essential life skills.

There will be ongoing internal assessment of practical performance as well as pupil ability to understand the theory behind personal survival and life saving techniques.

Pupils will also be required to demonstrate their ability to perform personal survival and life saving techniques as well as basic CPR.
