UNIT TITLE

LEARNING FOR LIFE: INSPIRE > ASPIRE

January - March 2014
IN CLASS

This is a ten week project with a focus on values and self-reflection. We will us the values of the Commonwealth Games and the Four Capacities of Curriculum for Excellence as a starting point to help us think about inspiring people and our aspirations for the future.

You will choose a person whom you find inspiring. You will find out about this person and think about what values and qualities they have shown in their life.

You will have the opportunity to share with others what you have found out about the person you have chosen as inspiring.

We start with two introductory periods in class and then have eight peiods in the library. In the library you will be carrying out your own on-line research. You will also be producing your final piece of work for this project on the computers. This means that you will also be using and developing skills in ICT, research, and literacy.

AT HOME

In this unit there is lots that you can do at home to support what you are doing in class.

Start by having a look at the Learning for Life: Inspire > Aspire website. At home, you could continue the research that you are doing in class. You could email what you find to your school email address so that you can use your extra research during lessons in the library.
